The paranoia and the blue ocean

I read Blue Ocean Strategy first followed by this awesome take on the paranoia that every business leader should have, this is applicable to me as my role in middle management however the strategic inflection point can be applied to any budding startup. If you are still running a successful successful without already understanding these concepts in your time of sink or swim moments you are either a genius or just plain lucky. Looking at a blue ocean by super-imposing the 6 forces of competitors, suppliers, customers, potential customer(or non-customers as per blue ocean) and the complementary products or solutions may help you identify opportunities that you did not think exist. A skill and a vision every product manager or business leader needs to learn, you can be smart but if you do not understand these market forces it is just a matter of time.
